The piece illustrates the entomological observations recorded on June 25th, 2022 at MOTH BALL, an event held on land now known as Athens, NY, the unceded territory of the Mohican people. Created by Patrick Costello and Ash Ferlito, MOTH BALL is an annual information-gathering wild science extravaganza celebrating creatures of the night with “mothing”, art and performative spectacle.
Each print comes with a small zine; a complete incomplete list of the species who showed up that night, compiled from the observations of Jason Dombroskie, Maya Shikhman, Pawel Pieluszynski, Cullen Hanks, Ash Ferlito, Ben Simon and Evelyn Manlove.
